The Audi A3 delivers all that buyers expect from the luxury brand at more-affordable price point. For the 2017 model year, the smallest of the U.S.-spec Audis gets an updated look, new technology, and a few new features.
On the outside, this updated rig is very much recognizable as the A3, but Audi livened it up with new headlights, a wider Singleframe grille, and an updated fascia. The convertible model gets a few more updates in the form of a new rear bumper and diffuser, and standard S-Line exterior appearance package on Premium Plus and Prestige trims. Inside, the look of the A3 remains unchanged, but it gains some new features like the available Audi Virtual Cockpit, an updated MMI Touch system, Audi Smartphone Interface with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Audi Connect Prime and Connect Plus.
Under the hood, the new A3 will come standard with the once-optional 2-liter TFSI four-cylinder engine that produces 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain will pair with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission that’ll ship power to all four wheels. The current 1.8-liter turbocharged engine and standard front-wheel drive will no longer be available.
