Dodge updated the available 8.4-inch UConnect infotainment system for faster processing, additional controls, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Models equipped with the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine receive an active exhaust system. The Daytona trim returns after several years on hiatus. The high-performance Hellcat gets new forged aluminum wheels.
Although it’s tuned more for performance than comfort, the Charger offers plenty of room for five passengers and all the conveniences we expect in large sedan. The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 292 horsepower and is available with optional all-wheel drive. Speed freaks will want to pay attention the the three V8 engines on offer: a 5.7-liter with 370 horsepower, a 6.4-liter that delivers 485 horsepower, and a 707-horsepower, supercharged 6.2-liter, reserved for the line-topping Hellcat. Models equipped with a V8 are rear-drive only. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard across the board.
Offers a V6 engine and standard features like keyless ignition, a power driver seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The six-speaker sound system includes Bluetooth connectivity and a 5-inch UConnect interface. The available Popular Equipment Group adds remote start, rear parking sensors, and satellite radio.
The SXT builds on the SE with upgraded cloth upholstery, expanded driver seat controls, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated side mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 18-inch wheels. The SXT also carries the newly updated 8.4-inch version of UConnect. The optional Plus Group tacks on leather upholstery, heated and ventilated power front seats, driver memory, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, and xenon headlights. The Premium Group adds adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic wipers, a power-adjustable steering wheel, navigation, and a 10-speaker Beats sound system to the Plus Group’s options. (Some of these items are available in smaller packages.) Turning to performance, the Rallye Group provides a boost to 300 horsepower, a sport-tuned suspension, paddle shifters, special styling elements throughout, 20-inch wheels, and a Beats stereo (if not already equipped). The Super Track Pack adds a performance axle ratio, beefier tires, and a three-mode stability control system.
