A full-fledged, full-size SUV, the LX 570 yields to few competitors when it comes to bounding through the wilderness. Every LX has full-time four-wheel drive with crawl control and hill-start assist. A multi-terrain selector maximizes traction and performance for five different off-road conditions.
An adaptive air suspension ensures a plush ride for up to eight passengers in daily on-road driving. On the console, Drive Mode Select has three settings: Eco, Comfort, and Sport S. That system can control the adaptive variable suspension.
Beneath the hood, the 5.7-liter V8 engine generates 383 horsepower and 403 pound-feet of torque, driving an eight-speed automatic transmission. That’s sufficient to tow up to 7,000 pounds. Despite weighing three tons, an LX 570 can accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds, according to Lexus. As expected, fuel economy is far from frugal, EPA-estimated at 13 mpg city/18 mpg highway (15 mpg combined).
The spacious LX cabin comes in full luxury dress with abundant wood trim and supple leather. Standard equipment includes heated power front seats, driver’s memory and lumbar adjustment, four-zone climate control, a moonroof, an Easy Access driver’s seat, power-sliding second-row seat and a power-folding third row.
On the technology front, you get a navigation system with voice recognition, smartphone apps, a panoramic rearview camera, and a nine-speaker audio system with a CD/DVD changer and satellite and HD radio. Active Height Control can lower the vehicle 2 inches to ease entry/exit. Additional standard features include 20-inch alloy wheels; LED headlights and daytime running lights; illuminated running boards; and heated, auto-dimming outside mirrors with a power-fold feature.
The standard Lexus Safety System includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, intelligent high-beams, and all-speed dynamic radar cruise control.
An optional Luxury Package adds upgraded semi-aniline leather upholstery, heated/ventilated front and second-row outboard seats, and a heated steering wheel. Standalone options include a 19-speaker, 450-watt Mark Levinson sound system; a rear entertainment system with dual video displays; and 21-inch wheels.
